Ulster county 911 dispatch12/28/2023 ![]() ![]() But most of this data is readily available as public information through the FCC. If we had to worry about what could happen, this whole database shouldn't exist. New EDACS systems, like the one in FL use ESK, encrypted system keys so it becomes even more dificult to hack into the system. Anyone with a budget is going to trunked systems that utilize a system key so those without it are unable to access the system. We do have equipment available to triangulate and locate those that do. Unfortunately, most convential repeater systems do not have security features to keep the criminal from jamming the waves. However, because the repeater output PL is the same for all towers, I'm forced to.unless I program the PL for the specific tower I want to hear, thus eliminating my problem, since the county doesn't utilize phone line links or microwae to access the tower. I personally could care less what is going on on the other side of the county. My county uses five EMS repeaters, all with different repeater inputs but the same output. Programming the input PL's serves the same purpose. But for people who don't want to hear every single fire or ems page all day for every agency in the county, it is a great feature allowing one to program in just the agency that covers the area they live and they can be alerted only for that purpose. However, I sure as hell don't unless I'm authorized to or want to go to jail. Now technically, I could take my HT1550XLS and program it to transmit the tones. Heck, with the new 396 scanner, you can decode fire/ems tones.they are listed on sites like the one hosted by NF2G. I understand your concern, but if you look in the database, the repeater inputs are listed all over the place for agencies all over the U.S.why not get the most accurate data available for our areas. ![]()
