Quiver of ehlonna 3.512/30/2023 ![]() ![]() Of course another thing about 2E is, "Ask your DM" because the DM can change it to be whatever they want. I know that might read as counter-intuitive (maybe it should say more clearly "cannot duplicate magic items" in the text), but using 2E logic, and common sense based on XP value and the relative power of equivalent value items, and knowledge of the cost/effort/time that's normally required for creating magic items from scratch in the game, the intent is clear (to me) on that question. Something like this, 2E would explicitly say if it could duplicate magic items, and then 2E would give limitations like "Can only make 2 per week" or "Can only make 1d100 magic copies". That wouldn't make sense compared to other magic items in 2E short of Artifacts in the Book Of Artifacts, and even then it would come with countervailing drawbacks. If the quiver could manufacture duplicates of magic items, it could spill out hundreds-of-thousands of XP in magic ammo, in short order. ![]() The listed XP Value of Quiver Of Elhonna (2E) is only 1500xp. That would be a significant artifact in 2nd Edition AD&D if it could make copies of powerful magic arrows, powerful magic javalins, powerful magic quaterstaffs, etc. Lord Torath wrote:Though I'm not sure where you're getting the non-magical bit. It won't duplicate Arrows Of Slaying, and that wouldn't be workable in most campaigns if it could do that. If you put an Arrow +1, or an Arrow Of Slaying, you can still only get the Quiver to produce more arrows (normal arrows). I wouldn't run it as making endless copies of magic items, if that's what you meant to ask by "duplicates ANY arrow". That's probably a better reading of the item, on closer examination of the text.īut duplicating magic items? No. (I can see it being limited to being like a Haversack though - it just jumps to your hand with the next 1 of the arrows you have stored inside it). Putting in 1 is enough, then you can get out dozens more. You don't need to put in 30 arrows to get out 30 arrows from this Quiver. It's more than a Handy Haversack (which just brings-to-hand the exact items that someone put in it, not duplicates). To that extent, yes, it can be interpreted as an Archery Factory. ![]() If you put the types of weapons it allows inside - arrow, staff, javalin, etc - the PC can get the Quiver to produce more normal arrows, more normal javalins, and so on. ![]()
